Most people think relaxation is very simple; just recline and close your eyes. However this is not the case. In order to completely relax, muscular tensions, emotional tensions and mental tensions need to be released.

Muscular tensions are related to the body itself, the nervous system and endocrinal imbalances. Conscious relaxation brings about a deep physical relaxation enabling these deep rooted tensions to be released.

Emotional tensions arise from various dualities such as love/hate, profit/loss, success/failures, and happiness/unhappiness. These emotions are difficult to erase because we are often unable to express our emotions freely and openly. Very often we refuse to recognise them, so they become repressed, and the resulting tension becomes deeply rooted. Conscious relaxation can calm the entire emotional structure of the mind.

Mental tensions are the result of excessive mental activity. The mind is like a whirlpool of thoughts, confusions and fantasies which can lead to compulsive and obsessive minds states and ways of thinking. Conscious relaxation releases mental tensions and establishes harmony in all facets of our being.

Conscious relaxation is a more efficient and effective form of physical and physiological rest and rejuvenation than conventional sleep. One hour of conscious relaxation is equivalent to four hours of conventional sleep.
