The need for information about fertility and infertility is increasing. More and more couples are seeking help with fertility and are looking for as much information as they can lay their hands on. In addition, as the average age of women choosing to have a baby rises, the need for information and support with fertility in the over-30s increases. Older women are more aware that it can be harder for them to fall pregnant and so are looking for advice and support to optimise their chances.
However, fertility is not just an issue for women over 35 as some younger women also struggle to conceive. Often our lifestyles can be held accountable for this. No matter what your age, if you undertake to be fitter, healthier and less stressed, your chances can increase and our therapists can help you to achieve these goals.
Age and Fertility
The optimum age to fall pregnant is between 20-35, but many women are waiting longer before trying for a baby due to work/career, finances or waiting for Mr. Right. In June 2009 the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) issued a statement advising women to have their babies between the ages of 20-35 in order to have the best chance of conceiving and giving birth to a healthy baby. However, almost half of births in England and Wales are to the over thirties. While fertility does decline with age it is still possible to fall pregnant as an older woman and have a healthy baby.
Couples can also struggle for many medical reasons such as low sperm count, PCOS, endometriosis or blocked fallopian tubes. Complementary therapies can help with these and a wide range of other issues and provide an opportunity to share and allay anxieties and stress.
Miscarriage
There is also the problem of recurrent miscarriage. While technically the couple do fall pregnant, the heartbreak and stress of losing your baby is of equal importance as any infertility issue. There are many natural ways to help the body hold on to the pregnancy and therapies also work alongside any medical intervention to help a pregnant woman who is a miscarriage sufferer.

At HFM Wirral we are bringing together our collective knowledge and expertise to provide you with a broad base of help and support to help you make informed decisions about fertility.
We have complementary health therapists who have a special interest in fertility; many have augmented their core qualifications with further education specific to improving fertility. In addition our fitness trainers have comprehensive knowledge to help you get fit and healthy to give you the best chance at falling pregnant. Each therapist can also offer advice on nutrition.
There is a lot of information out there and many couples get confused and bewildered as to the best place to go to get trustworthy advice and support. Our aim at HFM Wirral is to make the whole process easier by guiding you to the support you need.
Some people will only need help with natural fertility whilst others will need help and support throughout assisted fertility i.e. Chlomid, IUI, IVF and ICSI. Either way we can help.
There are many fertility clinics out there doing an amazing job, such as The Hewitt Centre at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital and Care in Manchester. Our therapists have worked with many men and women who have used these clinics, and as complementary therapists we feel we can work well to help you attain that much wanted baby.
